Global Warming Equals Socialism

Global Warming Equals Socialism
Philip V. Brennan
Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007

There's a very simple question that the global warming scaremongers don't seem to be able to answer in a straightforward, credible manner.

It has to do with the current refrigeration of much of the United States and the claims of the global warming alarmists which appear to be very much at odds.

According to the propaganda campaign being hammered at the people of the world, the polar ice cap is melting and the polar regions are on the verge of becoming a tropical paradise.

I would like to know, if the polar regions are warming, how they able to bestow Arctic weather upon much of the U.S. as they are currently doing?

If the Arctic is the planet's refrigeration system and if that system is losing its coolant due to global warming, how can it continue to bless the U.S. with cold fronts that continue to break records for their severity?

The lame excuse the alarmists provide is that, oh well, climate is measured over the long term, you see, and over a year's time, the climate is seen as getting warmer, despite the frigid temperatures seen in the winter, which are merely temporary.

That's called "begging the question."

In an e-mail promoting a new book, "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming" the Conservative Book Updates from Human Events Book Service had the following wisdom to impart: "For decades, environmentalism has been the Left's best excuse for increasing government control over our actions in ways both large and small.

"It's for Mother Earth! It's for the children! It's for the whales! But until now, the doomsday-scenario environmental scares they've trumped up haven't been large enough to give the sinister prize they want most of all: total control of American politics, economic activity, and even individual behavior.

"With global warming, however, greenhouse gasbags can argue that auto emissions in Ohio threaten people in Paris, and that only global government can tackle such problems. National sovereignty? Democracy? Forget it: global warming has now brought the Left closer to global government, statism, and the eradication of individual rights than it has ever been before."

In that book, CBC reports that author Christopher C. Horner explains why, although Al Gore and his cronies among the media elites and U.N. globalists endlessly bleat that "global warming" is an unprecedented global crisis, they really think of it as a dream come true.

"Global warming is the ideal scare campaign for those who are doing all they can to secure strict control over society, business, and the minutest details of individual life." As Horner explains, "if global warming really were as bad as the Leftist doomsayers insist it is, then no policy imaginable could 'solve' it . . . no matter how much we sacrifice there would still be more to do. That makes global warming the bottomless well of excuses for the relentless growth of Big Government."

Writing in Canada's National Post, Feb. 5, Timothy Ball addresses the strongarm tactics employed by the environmentalist left. Dr. Ball, chairman of the Natural Resources Stewardship Project and a former professor of climatology at the University of Winnipeg, Canada recalls what happened to him when he spoke out against the global warming hoax.

"What I have experienced in my personal life during the last years makes me understand why most people choose not to speak out; job security and fear of reprisals. Even in university, where free speech and challenge to prevailing wisdoms are supposedly encouraged, academics remain silent."

Dr. Ball recalls that he once got a three-page letter from an academic colleague telling him he had no right to say what he was saying, especially in public lectures.

He was also accused by Canadian environmentalist David Suzuki of being in the pay of oil companies. "That is a lie. Apparently he thinks if the fossil fuel companies pay, you have an agenda. So if Greenpeace, Sierra Club, or governments pay, there is no agenda and only truth and enlightenment?"

What did Dr. Ball say that got him in such trouble with some of his colleagues?

Just this: "Global Warming, as we think we know it, doesn't exist. And I am not the only one trying to make people open up their eyes and see the truth. But few listen, despite the fact that I was the first Canadian Ph.D. in climatology and I have an extensive background in climatology, especially the reconstruction of past climates and the impact of climate change on human history and the human condition. Few listen, even though I have a Ph.D, (Doctor of Science) from the University of London, England and that for 32 years I was a professor of climatology at the University of Winnipeg."

Politicians are being listened to, however, wrote Dr. Ball, even though most of them have no knowledge or understanding of science, especially the science of climate and climate change. Hence, they are in no position to question a policy on climate change when it threatens the entire planet. Moreover, using fear and creating hysteria makes it very difficult to make calm rational decisions about issues needing attention.

In recent weeks we have seen environmentalist wackos issuing fatwas against any scientist who dares to contradict their propaganda, demanding they be exiled from the scientific community and tried in international courts.

For example, The Weather Channel's most prominent climatologist, Heidi Cullen, advocated that broadcast meteorologists be stripped of their scientific certification if they express skepticism about predictions of manmade catastrophic global warming.

Appearing on the Larry King Show Jan. 31, MIT's professor of atmospheric science Dr. Richard Lindzen spoke about the widely touted scientific report issued by the U.N.'s Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and allegedly the work of 2,500 scientists insisting that it's 90 percent certain that global warming is manmade.

In fact, Dr. Lindzen explained, all that was issued last Friday was a summary for policy-makers that is not prepared by scientists. "It's not 2,500 people offering their consensus, I participated in that. Each person who is an author writes one or two pages in conjunction with someone else.

"They travel around the world several times a year for several years to write it and the summary for policy-makers has the input of about 13 of the scientists; but ultimately, it is written by representatives of governments, of environmental organizations like the Union of Concerned Scientists, and industrial organizations, each seeking their own benefit."

Added Lindzan about the whole global warming scare, "I think it's mainly just like little kids locking themselves in dark closets to see how much they can scare each other and themselves."

Then there is this juicy story about the lengths to which the globalbaloneyists will go to convince the world it is tottering on the brink of a cataclysm.

The pro-global warming BBC reported that "rising seas, caused by global warming have for the first time washed an inhabited island of the face of the earth."

According to BBC, "The obliteration of Lohachara island, in India's part of the Sundarbans where the Ganges and the Brahmaputra rivers empty into the Bay of Bengal, marks the moment when one of the most apocalyptic predictions of environmentalists and climate scientists has started coming true."

According to TheNewsisNowPublic.com, the story was a hoax.

BBC didn't bother to mention that Lohachare Island disappeared 22 years ago and that the entire region of The Sundarbans is a river delta, or that the disappearance of the island has been attributed to erosion, not global warming.

All of this provides solid evidence that Christopher C. Horner is right on target in his charge that the whole global warming business is nothing but pure politics — a means by which the left can take control of just about every human activity worldwide.

The real purpose behind the global warming movement is the establishment of a world socialist order under the control of the United Nations.

Global warming is what I've been saying it is since 1997: a lot of globaloney.

Hot and cold: the greatest deception
Article Published 02. 7. 07

“Paradox implies that stating a contradiction disposes of it.” --Mason Cooley

Those of us who are not scientists (most of us) think that science yields facts based on experimentation and empirical evidence.

I am not an academic and I've even played one on TV but as I have 'tried' (and failed) to adequately explain for a very long time is, global warming, at least as it is being peddled in media, is not real.

Yes, the earth has and will go through periods of warming and cooling, but the overwhelming empirical scientific data indicates those cycles (and they ARE a process NOT an event) are a function of solar cycles...not greenhouse gases or your SUV.

The hypothesis of global warming (and it IS a 'what if' hypothesis) is your basic SWAG (Scientific Wild Ass Guess).

According to the recent grim report from a gaggle of usual suspect climate scientists and government wonks, global warming is so sever that it will "continue for centuries", significantly impacting the planet. Really?

Dr. S. Fred Singer is an atmospheric physicist at George Mason University. I have interviewed Dr. Singer in the past and referenced him in assorted columns. He remains a leading skeptic of the scientific consensus on global warming. Singer says that the scenarios are alarmist, computer models reflect real gaps in climate knowledge, and future warming will be inconsequential or modest at most.

Some people (fueled and supported by a complicit main stream media) hold that the threat of climate change is so great that we need to fundamentally change the way we produce and use energy. To fail to do so will result in a science fiction made real climactic holocaust.
Singer says, "Climate keeps changing all the time. The fact that climate changes is not in itself a threat..."

The big scare argument is that humans are the cause for climate change. Singer admits "there's no question in my mind that humanity is able to affect climate...on a local scale." Cities are warmer than suburbs or surrounding countryside...human beings, in producing energy, in just living, generate heat."

The big question of whether or not human beings can produce a global climate change is still unanswered. "This question is not at all settled. It can only be settled by actual measurements, data. And the data are ambiguous."

Despite the cries of 'Fire' in the crowded theater, facts in evidence still maintain more than 'reasonable doubt' for those not imprinted with the new religiousity of global warming.

· There is data that the earth has warmed since 1680.

· Then there was a cooling called LIA (Little Ice Age) that continued to now.

· The data show that the climate warmed between 1900 and 1940, long before humanity used much energy.

· Then the climate cooled between 1940 and 1975.

· Then it warmed again for a very short period of time, for about five years.

· But since 1979, best measurements show that the climate has been cooling just slightly.

Singer warns about ‘surface temperature’ readings."You have to be very careful with the surface record…It is taken with thermometers that are mostly located in or near cities. And as cities expand, they get warmer. And therefore they affect the readings." It is called ‘the urban heat island effect’ which is why he prefers to trust weather satellites."

From a statistical point of view, (we neophytes think) you get more credibility out of a longer record than a shorter record, don't you? Not really.

"A longer record, in general, will give you more statistical power, if there is a general overall trend." Ah-ha...the IF word. "But, in fact, the surface record also shows a cooling. So, which part of the surface record are you going to believe? The part before 1940, that shows a warming, or the part after 1940, that shows a cooling?" Therein may be the cause of the 'coming ice age' being replaced with 'epic global warming and melting ice caps followed by catacylsmic shifting of ocean currents."

I don't know. And YOU don't know. And more important, scientists are still searching for answers and data...in other words, they don't know.

Timothy Ball, another Ph.D with 32 years as a professor of climatology says, "Global Warming, as we think we know it, doesn't exist."

Ball says, "Global Warming is…the greatest deception in the history of science."

Ball, Singer and others may be attempting to debunk the global warming scare, however, they (and some would argue reason) are being shouted down by louder, better funded voices.

Several writers have observed that only 30 years ago global cooling was the big fear.

· In 1976 Lowell Ponte wrote, "It is a cold fact: the Global Cooling presents humankind with the most important social, political, and adaptive challenge we have had to deal with for ten thousand years.”

· Time magazine warned readers on June 24, 1974 that, "Climatological Cassandras are becoming increasingly apprehensive, for the weather aberrations they are studying may be the harbinger of another ice age." Today, however, Time has changed its mind and joined the global-warming hysteria.

Despite the yelling, screaming, and effusive funding…we don’t know what we don’t know. The rest is “sound and fury”.

Mysterious Lights Spotted Over Phoenix, Again

Mysterious Lights Spotted Over Phoenix, Again
Feb 7, 2007

(CBS4) PHOENIX, AZ Nearly a decade after the highly publicized ‘Phoenix Light Phenomenon’, more strange lights have appeared in the night sky over downtown Phoenix.

Tuesday night, mysterious lights lit up the western skies over Phoenix and soon after, phones began ringing off the hook at radio, television and police stations from witnesses wondering what the lights were.

The Yuma Marine Base claims it has the answer. Base officials said the amber-colored flares came from training flights on the Goldwater Gunnery Range. They went on to explain that the amber flares are used as targets.

Witnesses said it appeared the flares were flying in a formation and base officials explained that the flares float down to Earth attached to parachutes.

Back in March of 1997, a huge object was spotted over parts of Arizona that many witnesses believed to be an extraterrestrial spacecraft that was drifting slowly and silently over the region. The ‘Phoenix Light Phenomenon” became one of the most publicized and well-documented UFO sightings in recent history.

The Air Force said they were flares from an A-10 but many critics said flares couldn’t fly on their own over such a large distance.

The Discovery Channel has done a special on the lights. A movie has even been made about them which recently came out on DVD.

Strange Lights: What Was That in the Sky Over Arizona?
Created: 2/7/2007
By NBC News Channel

YUMA, AZ -- It was a disappointment for UFO believers in Arizona Tuesday night. Police received a bunch of calls about these four strange lights hovering just above the horizon. The lights, captured by home video, could be seen for miles.

It turns out the lights were military flares dropped on the Barry Goldwater Gunnery Range outside Gila Bend. The base says the amber flares are used as targets. It was a training exercise out of the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma.

The FAA also reported Luke Air Force Base had six F-16s that were also out on the range practicing ground attacks and they were also using flares

Are the Neoconservative a Secret Society/Cult?

Are the Neoconservative a Secret Society/Cult?
Friday, April 29, 2005

In a previous post, we quoted Jeff Wells on the subject of whether those at the very top of secret societies actually believe the stuff the lower degrees do or whether they invert the teachings at the top levels:

This appears to be an important and not uncommon dynamic of secret societies at the highest grades of initation. (Or at least so far as the uninitiated can tell, given their secrecy.) The hidden knowledge reserved for the final degrees seems often to stand the earlier teaching on its head. God can turn out to be the devil, and the devil your elder brother Lucifer. You thought you were illuminated? Here's your illumination for ya, right here. The significance of this secret moral inversion could be found in the question begged by the case for an elite paedophilic cult: How could something so incredible be so pervasive, and operate internationally with the protection of professionals, judiciary and government officials? Perhaps because the bottom-heavy pyramid structure of secret societies provides numerous lower-order cadres who serve ends which are the absolute inverse of those they suppose. Just perhaps.

I ran across a review by the Billmon blogger of a new book by Shadia Drury on the Leo Strauss cult among the Neocons that points out this very phenomenon:

To the Straussians, rationality does not provide an adequate basis for a stable social order. To the contrary, the Age of Enlightenment has ushered in the crisis of modernity, in which nihilism – the moral vacuum left behind by the death of God – inevitably leads to decadence, decline and, ultimately, genocide.

That logical leap from Jefferson to Hitler might seem like the intellectual equivalent of Evel Knieval’s outlandish attempt to jump the Snake River canyon on a rocket-powered motorcycle. But it’s essential to the Straussian world view – just as it provides the crucial angst that gives neo-conservatism such sharp political edges.

When Newt Gingrich equated feminism with the destruction of Western civ, he was echoing (in his dumbed-down way) Strauss’s lurking fear that the liberal American state would steer the same course as the Weimar Republic – a political Titanic on a collision course with a totalitarian iceberg. Deprived of the moral certainty provided by religion and tradition, the masses are vulnerable to crazed political adventurers who would fill the nihilistic void with their own crackpot ideas – like, say, the international conspiracy of Communists and Freemasons. They might even be worse than Tom DeLay. Or, as Drury laconically puts it:

Strauss . . . does not disagree with Marx that religion is the opium of the masses, he just thinks that people need their opium.

What gives Straussian thought its special flavor – a bitter blend of hypocrisy and cynicism – is the fact that Strauss himself didn’t believe in the eternal “truths” he championed. He was a nihilist, in other words – but one who believed only the philosophical elite could be trusted to indulge in such a dangerous vice. In exchange for this privilege, the elite has a special obligation to uphold the “noble lies” the ignorant masses must live by if society is to survive.

What’s more, Strauss not only thought this – he believed the ancient philosophers agreed with him, which is why their texts shouldn’t be read literally – at least not by the privileged elite. It seems that Strauss, like Madonna, had a thing for Kabbalism. He believed his Greek role models had endowed their Great Books with two very different meanings: one for the elect and one for the masses (like first class and coach, in other words, but with extra frequent flyer miles for the PhDs.) But these secret meanings had been carefully concealed, so as not to scare the children with the awful truth – or, more accurately, the awful lack of truth. They could, however, be deciphered by wise and virtuous philosophers who understood and shared the classical world view – by Leo Strauss, in other words.

As Drury points out, people who go looking for hidden meanings usually find them. And everywhere Strauss looked – in the works of Plato, Aristotle and Nietzsche – he found . . . Leo Strauss, staring back up at him from the page. A philosophical case of “incestuous amplification,” in other words, a tendency the Straussians have emulated unto the present day, and not just in the Pentagon’s E ring.

The ridicule of the Straussians in the academy is connected to their unquestioning devotion to a set of ideas that they cannot or will not defend except to those who are already converted . . . For they do not want their ideas discussed openly or even known to anyone outside the charmed circle of initiates.

UFO sighting over Islington

UFO sighting over Islington

02 February 2007

DOZENS of mysterious lights were spotted hovering in the sky above Archway - spreading panic among residents below.

Unidentified flying orange objects stopped traffic and left residents staring skyward in disbelief at around 5.30pm on Thursday.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Islington police received four calls within a matter of minutes.

Witness Alix McAlister, 34, a market stall trader from Bredgar Road, Archway, said: "I just picked up my son from nursery in Bredgar Road. I had just come out of the door when I noticed what was going on in the sky.

"There were a group of them - 10 to 15 of them moving together. My first impression was that they reminded me of a squadron of aeroplanes in formation. But they didn't have a proper formation and they were all moving at the same speed.

"I thought for a while that something was happening in the centre of London. Bombs and planes crossed my mind. But I realised very quickly that they didn't look like any aircraft I'd seen before.

"They were coming from the north and moving south. And then they kind of stopped and they were hovering. There was no sound. They seemed to fade away and I saw more coming and then they stopped. It lasted about 10 minutes."

Islington police informed Contact International UFO Research about the sightings. Soon after another witness contacted the Oxford-based organisation, which is devoted to solving the mystery of UFOs, and described what he saw.

A spokesman for Contact International said: "He told me he was picking his daughter up from school and he saw many people looking up in the air. Traffic had stopped and people were staring.

"He said he saw between 12 and 15 orange lights travelling across the sky. Then they would stop and then they went upwards
