Lafontaine nennt US-Amerikaner Terroristen

KOBLENZ/BAGDAD/DPA/AFP - Für den Linksfraktionschef im Bundestag, Oskar Lafontaine, sind die US-Amerikaner wegen ihres militärischen Vorgehens im Irak und in Afghanistan mit Terroristen gleichzusetzen. “Für uns - die Linke - ist Terrorismus das Töten unschuldiger Menschen, um politische Ziele zu erreichen3, sagte Lafontaine am Freitag auf einer Wahlkampfveranstaltung in Koblenz. Unterdessen sind die US-Streitkräfte und ihre Verbündeten am zweiten Tag ihrer Großoffensive gegen Rebellen im Irak nicht auf nennenswerten Widerstand gestoßen.

Allawi sieht Bügerkrieg im Irak
Die Offensive amerikanischer und irakischer Truppen nördlich von Bagdad hat die Spannungen im Land wachsen lassen. Die Regierung in Bagdad zeigte sich irritiert über die Operation „Schwärmer“ und mahnte die USA zur Zurückhaltung.

The US forces of occupation killed eleven members of the Harat family, including six innocent children and four women in a rural cottage in Alsaffa village in Ales-haqi district near Samara. This is the latest in the US’s defunct ‘war of terror’; in this occasion, the US used hundreds of troops and latest lethal weaponry in its air assault on this poor family home. One of the children was only four months old!

It’s impossible to understand the goals of the Bush administration without looking at a map. The entire Middle East and Central Asia is referred to in military parlance as CENTCOM; the central battlefield in the global resource war. This region extends from Sudan in the south to Kazakhstan to the north; from Egypt in the west to Pakistan in the east. This is where the vast majority of the world’s remaining resources lie and it will continue to be the primary area of focus for American foreign policy throughout the century.

· Resistance sharpshooter reportedly kills US soldier near notorious Abu Ghurayb prison.
· US CONTINUES SAMARRA’ OFFENSIVE -
· US forces expand area of operations south towards ad-Dulu‘iyah and west towards ath-Tharthar, after arresting hundreds of local people in vicinity of Samarra’. Americans leave puppet troops and Shi‘i sectarian militias in charge of occupied villages, whose populations are then terrorized and robbed.
· Hundreds of pro-American sectarian Badr Brigade gunmen deployed alongside US forces in Samarra’ intent of carrying out “retribution” against the local Sunni population, in keeping with US aim of launching sectarian civil war in Iraq.
· Families in villages around Samarra’ flee with only the clothing on their backs in an effort to escape savage American assault.
* Booby trapped house in al-Jallab village explodes reportedly killing four US troops.
· Four US troops reported killed in Resistance bomb attack near al-Miqdadiyah.
