"The Jewish Encyclopedia admits, says Mr. Heimbichner, that Jewish gnosticism includes occult magick and it inspired Christian Gnosticism."
And of course we can all believe the 'Jewish Encyclopedia', can't we? It wouldn't try to falsify history yet again in order to maintain the pretence that Judaism preceded Hellenism (the root and source of Alexandrian Gnosticism and itself rooted in the Mycenean and Minoan cultures) chronologically rather than being an invention of Babylonian bankers and sorcerers circa 500BC. And of course we can all believe Aleister Crowley too, can't we? He called it a "Gnostic Mass" so Gnostic it must be.
Except that Crowley was always looking in the wrong place for Gnosis, poor fellow. Hebrew kabballah is such a poor imitation of the Greek form that all of the meaningful content was lost in the process of creating the forgery. And it is the Greek form that gives us our Gothic 'Christian' temple architecture in Europe, all based on Euclidean geometrical principles (that's Euclid the Greek Mathematician, not some dehydrated lunatic 'prophet' raving in the desert). Outside influences on Greek kabala came from Egypt (for example the Athenian Measures, given to the Solon the Archon by the High Priest of Sais circa 600BC), and from Babylon (dodekaphonic music, rescued by Pythagoras, also circa 600BC, which would otherwise quite likely have been lost forever). Hellenic culture was taking over the world non-militarily and Judaism appears to me to have been some kind of Babylonian doomsday weapon against it. In order to do that it had to appear to have at least as much substance as Hellenism therefore had to borrow heavily while at the same time trying to make it all seem original. And to ensure that it took hold, Cyrus the Madman issued a decree that all the inhabitants of Palestine could either convert to Ezra's new grab-bag pigs-breakfast concoction or be executed, thus perpetuating the Babylonian ideals of freedom of thought that were so opposed to the Athenian brand of narrow-minded intellectual fascism.
